The Big-Picture History of the Jewish People: Part I

This 15-week course runs from November 20 to April 16 and meets Thursdays from 5 to 6:30pm, except on holidays and when there are conflicting programs.

We will look at highlights and broad trends within Jewish history from the Biblical period through the late 19th century. Topics will include Origins and Exile, Diaspora and Diversity, and Enlightenment and Emancipation.

Participants are asked to purchase the text Jewish History: The Big Picture by Gila Gevirtz (https://www.amazon.com/Jewish-History-Picture-Gila-Gevirtz/dp/0874418380). (Used copies of the book are available for significant savings.) Readings of one or two chapters will be assigned ahead of time for each class.
