Tribute Funds

Nathan E. Cohen Memorial Lecture Fund

The Nathan E. Cohen Memorial Lecture series was founded in 1989 by CAA member Dr. Arthur Cohen as an ongoing tribute to his father’s memory.  It provides programs open to the general public at no charge. 

Notable speakers have included former ABC news correspondent Bill Seamans, author and professor Julius Lester, Congressman Dick Swett, prominent political figure John Rauh, former Governor Walter Peterson, Congressman Charles Bass, and local scholars Paul Vincent and Bob Beck.

Laura Broad Memorial Arts and Culture Fund

The Laura Broad Memorial Arts and Culture Fund has been established by the family of Laura Broad z”l to celebrate her life through programs of music, literature, visual arts, theater, film and other cultural experiences that inspire reflection and joy. The Fund is intended to enrich the cultural and spiritual life of Congregation Ahavas Achim and the wider Keene community.

Laura Broad, the mother of CAA’s Music Director, Dr. Elaine “Lainee” Ginsberg, was a vocalist and soloist for CAA’s High Holy Day services for over a decade.

Florence Lipsky Memorial Education Fund

The Florence Lipsky Memorial Education Funds was set up by CAA member Aaron Lipsky to honor the memory of his mother Florence Lipsky z”l. As a tribute to Florence’s love for Judaism and Jewish learning, this fund provides needs-based scholarships for students, whose families are members of Congregation Ahavas Achim, to enroll in the congregation’s Religious School.

Ed Kapiloff Youth Fund

The Ed Kapiloff Youth Scholarship Fund honors the memory of Ed Kapiloff z”l, long-time members of Congregation Ahavas Achim. This fund was originally established by Ed’s son Michael Kapiloff to provide summer camp scholarships for the children of CAA members. The fund currently provides scholarships to CAA members to attend any formal or informal Jewish educational programs in the U.S., Israel, or elsewhere. Kapiloff Endowment Fund

The Kapiloff Endowment Fund was established by the Kapiloff Family to underwrite expenses for rabbinic searches, when they happen, and to provide ongoing support to CAA’s operating budget.
